How the integration works

You might be wondering what actually happens once you’ve got your Timely and Afterpay integration all set up. It’s pretty easy really! Here’s a little walk through. If you’re after a bit more detail, check out our help guide.

Your clients sign up to Afterpay

First of all, any of your clients can sign up to Afterpay either before their appointment on Afterpay’s website or their mobile app. They can also sign up in store as they make their first payment. Afterpay manages this process, including client credit ratings.

Clients make their first payment in store

After their appointment, your client generates a barcode for you to scan in store, via the Afterpay mobile app. This is the unique identifier that connects your business account with your clients payment details. Through this the first of four even installments are paid.

Clients pay the remainder over the next six weeks

From this point, Afterpay then facilititates the remaining 3 payments fortnightly. You’ll see the money in your account, and don’t need to have any contact with your clients. Afterpay will manage any late payments and associated late payment fees.

What's the maximum transaction amount for a client paying with Afterpay?

Afterpay currently has a limit of $1,000 per transaction.

How much does it cost?

If you are on the Timely Schedule and Sell or The Works plan there is no cost from Timely. Afterpay charge a percentage for the transaction. For more information on how much this is we can put you in touch with someone at Afterpay who will guide you through their costs and services

Can I have this and Zippay/Genoapay ?

Yes, but with Afterpay integrated to Timely, your clients will benefit from a seamless experience.

I already have Afterpay - can I connect it to Timely?

That depends. If you already use Afterpay either directly or through another supplier, you can continue to use that with Timely by manually keying your transactions into Timely. If you'd like to use the Timely integration with Afterpay you may need to sign up for a new Afterpay account or agree to new Afterpay terms and conditions. Send us an email to [email protected] and let us know how you use Afterpay at the moment and our team can help you out.

How does Afterpay work with Timely?

Afterpay clients will have an Afterpay app on their phone. The client will show you a barcode on their phone which is generated by the Afterpay app, then in Timely you’ll select Afterpay as the payment method and will need to scan or manually enter in the barcode. This is then automatically checked with Afterpay, and assuming the credit application is accepted, the transaction is approved. Done!

Is there any paperwork involved in the setup?

There are a few forms from Afterpay which you'll need to complete before you can get started.

Can all businesses register for Afterpay?

Unfortunately, Body Art/Tattoo businesses are unable to register. Businesses where Injectables and Fillers are more than 90% of your services, are also unable to register.
