It’s been a really tough 18 months for everyone in the hair and beauty industry, and the lockdown burnout is really settling in. We’ve heard from lots of you that you’re in desperate need of some R & R (with good reason), so we’ve put together a guide with our favourite (and free) resources to help you keep your mind, body, and business healthy during lockdown 🥰.

Mind 🙏

Meditating isn’t the only thing you can do for your mind; you can also make (and eat) some yummy home baking, watch a good TV show, listen to a thought provoking podcast, and/or attend an online workshop.

Fancy making a sweet superfood slice that won’t make you feel guilty? We’ve got you covered with Buffy Ellen’s ‘Chocolate Mint Slice’ Recipe.

If you’re looking for something engrossing (and maybe a little bit bizarre) to watch, we recommend Dr Death which is streaming on Stan.

A clean home = a clean mind! You might find yourself with a burst of motivation, in which case we recommend putting on a great podcast and getting the chores done. We recommend the Mamamia Out Loud Podcast, and the Boss Babe Podcast

Feel like working on your mental health? It’s easy to take 10 minutes out of your day to meditate, and if you’re consistent, it can make a world of difference. Head to Willow Urban Retreat’s Instagram to experience their free meditations.

Body 🏋️‍♀️

In the words of Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods, “Exercise gives people endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t kill their husbands”. Too right Elle; exercise improves your mood and has lots of other physical benefits, like keeping you fit and healthy so you’re not huffing and puffing when you start work again!

We know cardio isn’t for everyone and it can be hard to motivate yourself, so if you prefer slower moving exercise then we recommend trying out yoga! It’s great for the body, mind, and soul, and you can do it for free by watching videos on YouTube. We recommend Yoga With Adriene, who has a cult following for her beginner friendly yoga classes.

If you like the sound of free videos on YouTube but want something fast-paced, try Lucy’s beginner friendly 7 minute HITT workouts! You can do  this one at home without any equipment.

Business 🎓

If you have the bandwidth to work a little on your business and stay connected with industry happenings, we’ve got a few things to share with you to keep you full of ideas.

Our favourite podcasts 🎧

Hear about how Natalie Anne is getting through lockdown in this great podcast episode Natalie Anne Hair: A small business in the middle of lockdown Podcast.

If your sights are set on going big after lockdown and working harder on creating financial freedom, we recommend checking out this podcast The Business Bible Podcast.
