Saving the world from crappy booking systems, since this week.

Welcome Rueben!

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Rueben Skipper to the Timely crew as Business Development Manager. We’ve spent a couple of years focussing on making sure that Timely is a product that people love. Not just love, but love-love. We’re hearing every day that it is, which is great!

Now we need to rescue every small business owner who runs an appointment book from their scheduling status quo. We must rid the world of crappy booking software and archaic paper diaries. It’s business time. It’s Timely time. It’s Ruebs time!

Keep an eye out for Ruebs as he’ll be popping up anywhere and everywhere there is a business owner that needs rescued. If you know someone he should talk to, drop him a message.

We asked Rueb to tell us a bit about himself:

I never wanted to have a boring life and because of that I’ve done a lot of different things: Pilot in the Air force, Clown at Rainbows End, Cook at KFC, Research Fellow at Otago Uni and an Investment Banker in London. It wasn’t until I decided to start a Bagel Business in 2001 that I realised I was suited to start-ups. I enjoyed the excitement and unexpected twists and turns you experience. I knew back then that I wanted to build a technology company and I have steadily developed my skill set from general entrepreneur to technology entrepreneur. In the past decade I have started a number of businesses including a Bagel cafe, a coffee business, a research agency, a dating website and a finance company. I love a challenge, so long as it’s fun.

The commonality in all businesses was the requirement to make sales and in this area I found a natural strength. Since 2012 I started spending part of my time helping entrepreneurs at Upstart Business incubator and part of my time building SwiftSocial – a social media marketing company. This allowed me to build a strong network and has made me a better businessman. All through this my ambition to build a technology company has always been there. I’m excited every day to get up and go to work in my new role at Timely and I think it’s going to be one hell of a ride.
