Lisa Travis has built her business with one simple goal in mind... to empower women. Meet our latest Customer of the Week: The Beauty Clinic.
With 26 years experience in the New Zealand cosmetic industry, including fifteen years working in senior management and sales roles, opening two full-service beauty therapy clinics is a dream come true for Lisa. As the owner and Director Lisa has a clear vision for her company, “we offer a beautiful but clinical environment where we pride ourselves on only having the best of everything – the best staff, the best equipment and technology, and the best quality consumables.”
That equipment includes a very special IPL machine, the EFB Adéna IPL, that is capable of treating those white/blonde and red hairs which no other IPL machines can successfully treat. For Lisa this investment is a point of difference and allows them to offer results across the board, “so clients that have not been able to have IPL Hair removal treatments before are able to be treated with us.”
When asked about the reasons behind her business’s success Lisa points to the strong and dedicated team culture and says “my whole team are so passionate about what they do and we genuinely enjoy working together. We ensure every treatment we do is going to deliver a result or we simply will not do it.”
Creating this strong business culture starts from recruitment and Lisa says “I have only hired fully qualified therapists that share this same belief. I see my team as my biggest asset so I ensure that they feel empowered, are challenged, upskilled, and hold positions of responsibility, so they are able to deliver the best experience and results to our clients. When I have happy staff, I will have happy clients. And all of these fabulous women will be empowered.”
“If I am able to make a women feel better about herself in some way… then I have managed to change someone’s life for the positive.”
Lisa took a similarly measured approach to finding the best software to support her business. “I did quite a bit of research across the products available before choosing Timely and I have not been disappointed. The ability for Timely to connect to Xero accounting package makes life so much easier from a bookkeeping point of view. I love the online booking system which drives a lot of additional bookings for us, and our clients love being able to see what bookings are available.”
“I am very ‘report’ orientated, and love being able to easily get information to see how my businesses are performing, what is the most popular service we offer, who hasn’t been in for a while, which retail products were purchased etc.” As the owner of a business with two separate sites the flexibility is also a big drawcard for Lisa. “The ability to use Timely on any device as long as I have internet connection is incredible. I can make a booking for someone while I am at a networking meeting, can go into the system at anytime to see how our days are looking, and can make any changes needed from wherever I happen to be.”
In the future Lisa hopes to open more sites across Auckland, and is looking at a model that involves her senior staff members taking invested roles in each branch. With such a strong focus on empowering clients and staff alike we’re sure The Beauty Clinic will continue to be a great success.
